About the Studio
Magpie & Wren was founded on the belief that everyday objects can become keepsakes, holding memories of people, places, and the natural world.
Through illustrations inspired by nature, family archives, and cultural heritage, the studio creates paper goods and collections that preserve stories, celebrate place, and help people remember what matters.
Magpie & Wren grew from a lifelong habit of noticing things—birds on walks, old family photographs, pressed flowers tucked into books, and the quiet stories that travel with us from one place to another. Living in the Philippines, Singapore, Guam, and California has shaped the way I see the world, and those places continue to find their way into every collection.
Many of the birds and flowers I paint first appeared in my mother's photographs. While living abroad, painting them became my way of staying connected to home. Those photographs have since become a family archive that continues to inspire every new collection.
Every illustration begins with careful observation, research, and sketching before becoming artwork for paper goods, surface patterns, and everyday keepsakes.
Our hope is simple: to create thoughtful keepsakes that inspire beauty, curiosity, and a deeper connection to the people, places, and stories that matter.
Our Philosophy
Helping people remember what matters.
We believe illustrations can do more than decorate a space. They can preserve stories, celebrate place, and become keepsakes that connect us across generations.
Meet the Artist
Mabuhay and Håfa Adai, I'm Carmine Dinglasan Brooks.
I am Filipino artist, designer, and founder of Magpie & Wren.
A graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, one of Asia's oldest universities, my background in fine arts and cultural heritage continues to shape the way I approach illustration and storytelling. After living in Singapore, Guam, and California, those same interests have grown into collections inspired by nature, memory, and the places I've called home.
Today I paint birds, botanicals, and places that remind me of home, transforming observations, family archives, and memories into illustrations, paper goods, and keepsakes.
I hope they become pieces people return to for years to come.
Thank you for visiting and for being part of the journey.
